Friendship ... is born at the moment when one man [woman] says to another "What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . .” ― C.S. Lewis |
A Life Postponed is an inspirational and thoughtful read. Nowhere in this book will you find a clinician analyzing your life choices. It is meant to be interpreted as if we are among friendly faces chatting around a kitchen table; laughing, crying, and commiserating on a grassroots level about what we want our future selves to look like.
Initially intended as a memoir about the consequences of putting my life on hold for my children and spouses, A Life Postponed chronicles my journey through divorce, financial ruin, and rebuilding my life. I realized that living solely for others had cost me half my adult life, and contrary to popular belief, life doesn't magically begin at fifty unless you're financially prepared – and I wasn’t. A Life Postponed evolved into a motivational self-help guide featuring an abundance of resources, practical advice, "out-of-the-box" ideas and jobs, workable solutions, and true narratives of the struggles and triumphs of others in regaining their sense of relevancy, success, and joy. If you really want a better life, this book can help you do just that. |
READER REVIEWS OF A LIFE POSTPONED
This was first on my list of books by local authors to read this year, and it did not disappoint! The author is funny and honest detailing her own life's ups and downs while befriending other women who are having their own struggles. I love how the book progresses from problem solving in general to real, tangible solutions for Canadian women, with references (Chapter 11 is great). The author's optimism will rub off on you. - Goodreads
What made this book stand out, was the in depth resources made available to the reader. Rather than telling you what is already obvious to those facing similar situations, the author provides incredibly useful tools to rebalance one's life. This is a book that avoids the usual "fluff" by laying out a game plan for the reader. For those finding themselves lost or uncertain as to how to move forward, Wendy Richards gives step by step pointers and resource contacts that the reader can use immediately. - Amazon.ca
